Avro Shackleton 1722 (“Pelican 22”)

 As mentioned in the text of chapter 11 of “Stray Cats Hunt in Darkness,” here is some dope on the Shackleton 1722 known as “Pelican 22.”

Shackleton, Pelican 22 based at Ysterplaat Airforce Base, Cape Town, South Africa. SAAF 1722, commonly known as 'Pelican 22', was the last airworthy Shackleton MR3. The aircraft, owned by the South African Air Force Museum based at AFB Ysterplaat. It was one of eight Shackleton operated by the South African Air Force from 1957 to 1984. Airworthy but has been grounded for safety and preservation reasons as well as a lack of qualified crew.
